The work of the Southern creatives who colour our lives will be on display in Invercargill this weekend.
Amplify Art brings together performance and visual arts with workshops and speakers, in a first ever showcase of anything and everything creative in the South.
There are exhibitions of stuff to look at (like the bodyscapes of art photographer Corey Varcoe ); performances to watch (like South Pole Dance display); and a chance to hear some of the best in their fields talk about what they do and why. People like celebrated Phil Newbury Glass Artist. There’s also workshops and yes, there’s literature.
There will be two book tables where you can pick up a copy of Just Cause and Effect – Selenium Deficiency in New Zealand or maybe something a bit steamier from the pen of Catherine Taylor or maybe be inspired
Doors open at Ascot Park Hotel from 10am to 4pm, entry is free, and yes, there are events for the children. Thanks Arts Murihiku and Creative NZ!
(Pssst – it’s Mothers’ Day on Sunday – if you’re planning on taking Mum out better make that booking tonight).
